About Us

Talent will only take today’s singers and actors so far. Modern performing artists are expected to master an intimidating range of skills; beyond polished vocals, a singer must look and sound good on stage, live television, and in music videos. Dance has become an essential part of many performances. For maximum flexibility, actors are expected to be able to perform on stage, television, and in the movies with equal skill. The RSA Academy, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, teaches these and other skills to children, teens, and young adults from around the world. Students must audition to be admitted to RSA Academy, and only the most talented and dedicated of performers are accepted. Training is intense, but students have access to dozens of different classes. Regardless of talent or experience, the RSA Academy requires all singing students to take voice lessons and all acting students to participate in acting classes, based on the belief that performers should always seek to improve the fundamentals of their craft.

The RSA Academy classes focus on a combination of knowledge and live training. Acting students learn how to perform on a television set and in front of a three-camera format, and they train in cinematic techniques, since auditions are key to most acting jobs. RSA Academy students train in cold reading, improvisation, and acting styles. Self-branding and promotion are also very much a part of the curriculum. Singers learn how to polish all aspects of their performance, including vocals, dance, and live performance. They master the basics of style and makeup as well as public appearances. Vocalists interested in broadening their skills can also take lessons in songwriting and choreography.
